Sorry Lyrics Chinese Democracy Guns N Roses

Sorry Lyrics Chinese Democracy Guns N Roses

Sorry is a new song by Axl Rose for the new GNR album, Chinese Democracy.

A lot of people are speculating that this song is directed at former Gunner, Slash.
I can't see it my self, while Chinese Democracy might have a lot of introspection, this song could be interpreted in soooo many situations.

Still, if it makes you happy go right ahead and read it how you want - that's how many artists intend their lyrics to be interpreted.

Sorry Lyrics - credits W. Axl Rose/Buckethead/Brain/Pete Scaturro

You like to hurt me
You know that you do
You like to think
In some way
That it's me
And not you
(But we know that isn't true)

You like to have me
Jump an' be good
But I… don't want to do it

You don't know why
I won't act the way
You think I should

You thought they'd make me
Behave and submit

What were you thinking
'Cause I don't forget

You don't know why
I won't give in
To hell with the pressure
I'm not cavin' in

You know that I
Got under your skin
You sold your soul
But I won't let you win

You talk too much
You say I do
Difference is nobody cares about you

You've got all the answers
You know everything
Why nobody asked you
It's a mystery to me

I'm sorry for you
Not sorry for me
You don't know who in the hell to
Or not to believe

I'm sorry for you
Not sorry for me
You don't know who you can trust now
Or you should believe
You should believe
You don't know who you can trust now
Or you should believe

You close your eyes
All well an' good
I'll kick you ass
Like I said that I would

You tell them stories they'd rather believe
Use and confuse them
They're numb and naïve

The truth is the truth hurts
Don't you agree?

It's harder to live
With the truth about you
Than to live with
The lies about me

Nobody owes you
Not one goddamn thing
You know where to put your
'Just shut up and sing'

I'm sorry for you
Not sorry for me
You don't know who in the hell to
Or not to believe
I'm sorry for you
Not sorry for me
You chose to hurt those that love you
An' won't set them free
Won't set them free
You chose to hurt those that love you
An' won't set them free

You don't need
Anyone else to be
Sorry for you
You've got no heart
You can't see
All that you've done for me
I know the reasons
You tear me apart

That i significantly doubt. I'd say it's about my ex-!!!!!

Blade said...

the first "don't" in the lyrics above should be "won't", it sounds like .. and it's "won't" before each of the "set them free"s..

Blade is correct about the typos. This song is beautiful. I knew it would be. The world has been waiting & Axl has delivered!

I'm pretty sure it was written for Slash. If you listen to the lyrics some of it really hits right at him and very hard.

Listen, Axl has taken almost all of the blame for the original Guns demise but if you go back and look at the history you find a different story.

Axl threatened to end the band in the very early days because of Slash, Duff, Steven and Izzy's bad drug abuse including heroine. This would eventually cost Steven his place.

Next Izzy left the band not because Axl kicked him out, as we were lead to believe all those years ago, but because he had gone sober and Slash and Duff couldn't handle it. They were constantly pressuring Izzy to go back to the wild lifestyle so he quit the band to stay straight.

The original band blames Axl for coming in one day and saying, "I want the rights to the band! Sign it over or I quit." Well, everybody calls him names for this but quite frankly if you're surrounded by drug addicts who have no musical direction themselves what's to say it wasn't a good idea? They were on their way to self destruction at the time. Slash and Duff were intoxicated in and out of the limelight on a constant basis. It's true.

So once it all fell apart we really can't say what happened. What we do know is that Axl decided he was going to stick with making music his way while Slash started doing things like playing with Michael Jackson for MTV. Slash was playing to MTV more than the original vision of Gn'R and that's fine. Slash is a businessman and quite frankly it worked very well for Metallica, right? I mean moneywise.

You look at it from Slash's side and here is this guy that keeps causing riots at concerts and threatening the band so he did what he thought was a safer business path.

I think, really, when you look at it, Slash's Snake Pit was a nice little all-star album, the first Velvet Revolver CD was great, second okay.

Meanwhile, after Revolver splits up, Metallica goes back to playing what brought them to the party and ACDC shows up with a new album, Axl pops up with Chinese Democracy at a brilliant time.

Now to the album, it is absolutely a masterpiece of hard rock music. As for this song, Sorry, whether all about Slash or not it is brilliant. The almost Pink Floydesque musical score, the fantastic solo, and the lyrics are perfect for anyone whose broken off a close relationship with someone and people close to them have really only heard one side of the story.

Even if 95% of the story your former friend/lover is true it only takes 5% of exageration to really screw you over in the opinions of everybody you know.

Classic song.

Updates made cheers for your help and JfS.

I suggest you all go read Axl's Biography - it explains why Izzy left GNR, in part it was drugs, mostly it was Axl's personna.

They have since reunited of sorts with Izzy playing a few gig with Axl over the last few years.

He is on record as saying the reason he did not join Velvet Revolver was because Slash insisted on a singer other than Izzy or Duff - Izzy won't put up with diva singers anymore.

For those of you who no little about the insides of the music biz in th late 80's/early 90's, heres a run down...When you're in a business(band) and everyone involved is doing things detrimental to the business(band) people change their thinking. Some get managers that not only ream the other guys, but also take the managed for a ride. Axl had someone in his ear telling him to get as much of the business in his pocket as possible before it all went to crap. Can anyone blame Axl for doing that? No. The band was falling apart at the seams. BUT...Here is the question that needs to be answered for all G n'R fans. Why couldn't they all get it together? Why couldn't guys stop the drug use, talk to each other, go onstage on time, etc.

So here's something I'd like to say to Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, Steven, Gilby, Matt, Dizzy...thank you for changing the way the world thinks of good rock n roll and fuck you for taking it away from us!!!! Oh, and the new album is good, but it is absolutely NOT Guns N' Roses!!!!

Scott Weiland said: "Everyone has made Axl out to be this horrendously crazy person, this bad guy, and I don't know him very well at all. He and I for whatever reason got almost tricked into this little media spat for a moment because one of our band members happened to run into him and said that he said something. So, my point being that having been in a band with Velvet Revolver now for five and a half years, I'm not quite so sure that it was all Axl's fault."

Lana and anonymous: if rock n roll wasnt dirty and chaotic it would be Celine F'ing Dion. of course it self destructs. the star shines bright and crashes. it's part and parcel my friends. once they grow up and clean up, most of em dont have anything real to sing about, and you get Metallica garbage. Axl picked one of the only choices left to aging rockers to make a good record from new themes: loss. I think he and the album are brilliant. SALUD!

Anonymous said...

anonymous... you make it sound like you are some expert in the industry and enlightening all the rest of us peons, but I laugh at you. you dont know what youre talking about. of course the managers whisper in peoples ears. you make it sound sleazy but thats their job. and here's how i know you have no experience with "the industry" or any rock bands.

why couldn't they get their shit together and talk to each other? because they are rock stars. not only that, but they are who they are. you cant force communication, and people with cash who like to party and dont have much accountability dont have any incentive to change. when youre blowing coke and are the coolest kids at the club and getting laid every night by some new slut, you dont want to change. DER. dont be jealous.

Hey.. who the fuck cares if someone used drugs or not. The rock enviroment often leads to drugs, every single rock player has been involved with drugs, from David Coverdale to Glenn Hughes, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Tomy Bolin (such a waste), etc etc etc. And let's say for the sake of argument, than Axl ain't no Ghandi !

I must say, Slash is not a musician I look after, and since he left Guns N Roses I don't hear anything more of him. Velvet Revolver sucked. This album has brilliant songs, good ones, bad ones, but there are a few (the first two) that are unpresentable.

And, it's obvious it was writen to Slash... "shut up an' sing"? :P

This is one of the good ones haha !

if this song is about slash and in one part hes saying 'You tell them stories they'd rather believe
Use and confuse them
They're numb and naive' well if his saying that slash is telling lies well his probably the one who is dumb and naive

and some in a other part he say 'I'll Kick your ass lick I said that I would' well I'm Pretty shure that slash is kicking his ass . axl almost never dos interview and I've never seen him on a Xbox game cover.. so if this is about slash well Fuck You!

Anonymous said...

I think Slash's cousin posted the last comment. WTF are you trying to say, that showing up on an Xbox cover makes you the man? Dammit I hate stupid people. Thanks for pissing me off for the rest of the day with your damn stupidity! I'll make sure to take it out on my kids now, they thank you.

I'm thinking it's about David Geffin. Look at the lyrics "You've got all the answers
You know everything
Why nobody asked you
It's a mystery to me".
Everybody asked Slash about things. That x box cover comment was about the dumbest thing i've ever read. It's probably about a few people and he's just throwing them all into one person. This is an axl rose solo album. Not guns and roses. And it's good.

PS. I think Axl wrote this for Elvis Presley....

Green Day fans might like to read the lyrics to 21st Century Breakdown!

Anonymous said...

Axl Wrote this for Princess Diana. I'm sure of it.

Anonymous said...

I read once a while back how when the sessions after the illusion tour when everyone was leaving Axl was told to "just shut up and sing what your told" So being that he repeats that quote almost verbatim it does appear to be a song about a member of "old Guns".

Anonymous said...

Axl wrote this song for me to listen and enjoy!!!

Anonymous said...

You people are way stupid cause this album has nothing to do with Axl Roses old band or new band You people have no Idea what ur listening to..its abvious that Axl is having dialouge with someone And the album is about the story of the end of time... Since its called Chinese Democracy and china as of now is a communist country...And from the first track he says he's leaving Chinese Democracy to somebody else then he goes into that persons story,...but this person Is not a regular person as u can see in the song Better Axl is talking about Promised Love..which if anyone read nostradamus he speaks of the Messiah having a promised Love that will save the world...Whta happened with this person was when he was supposed to unite with this person hIs friends did Voodoo on him so he would forget the sex he had with this person and he became Hassidic Jew and Like he says in the song better 'For had I known Or Id been shown back when how long it take to Break the Charms that Brought me harm and all but wouldf erase me" So this album was made for this person to see the truth of what happened to him Before he can come Home and then the End Of Time begins! I guess who people are wondering who Axl is But if ur smart u can figure it out there is hints through the whole album especially in the songs 'Chinese Democracy' and Rid N beduins.

jesus h christ...you all talk as if you know axl roses brain..the whole point ov guns n roses lyrics in my opinion is....make up your own damn thing to it...know one else can tell you otherwise..many a gnr song can be made out ta be something else other than what axl origianally wrote it about but that dosnt mean its not about what you want it to be about...stop bitchin at each other n just enjoy the fuckin thing

oh one last thing...i know axl got the rights to the band name...but i really think it was a big mistake callin it guns n roses...chinese emocracy is a fuckin ace album but i think ...as its like a whole new band ..diff band members n shit ...should of called it a diff band name...just my thought...so dont all start goin..."ooh what are you on about bla blah blah"...i dont care for your thoughts....n if you dont care for mine ...well unlucky for wastin about 10 mins of your time reading this comment...suposing you can even read that quick......over n out hail GnR....fuckin ay !!!!

i will quote ministry. "never trust a junkie......."

Everyone keeps arguing about who the song's about. It's not about any one person, obviously. I hear a lot of accusations at the media (especially at "you don't know who in the hell to or not to believe"). And then there's stuff about Slash "lying" to the media. So I think that's what "Use and confuse them, they're numb and naive" is about. There's probably a lot of personal stuff that no one besides Axl knows about, and some of the lyrics are probably about that.

A good song is never about just one thing. Those kind of lyrics has no dimension. Axl Rose fuckin rocks.

I too am surprised at the number of people who think this is for Slash. To me this is one of the most obvious tracks on the album. It's directed at one or a few music journos.

They're the ones they're the ones saying he talks too much, telling him to shut up and sing, they're the ones telling him to just behave and release an album already and they're the ones nobody cares about. They don't know who to trust because their sources for stories on GnR and Axl are a bunch of music industry types instead of from Axl himself, but in their stories still claiming to know everything (even though nobody asked). They're the targets of Get in the Ring, in which Axl says he will kick their ass, as referenced in this song.

The readership of these people are the naive and numb, and the journos are using the GnR story to tell them whatever they want to hear. The readers love em, but the journos wont set them free, instead they keep the readers trapped with these false stories and shennanigans.

It all makes sense.

Axl Rose wrote this song about chuck norris... he's since been very jumpy and carrys a .44 with him at all times, his doctor believes he will soon die of fear...

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with anonymous who said its about the music journos. it really does make perfect sense. It couldn't be about Slash because it would be stupid to say 'Nobody cares about you' - not even Axl would deny that he still has plenty of fans. And the line "I kicked your ass like I said I would' is a perfect reply to the comment in Get In The Ring where he said he was 'going to kick your bitchy little ass'.

Anonymous said...

I ain't give a shit if this song is about slash or not, axl and slash told different stories and we'll probably never gonna learn the truth.
I still hope someday the old guns can reunite (highly doubt it though). What a shame for such a great band!!
